Barberfellas are looking for a tenor/lead to join our group!
We’re a friendly amateur 9-voice queer barbershop group based in London, looking for a tenor or lead singer to join us (ideally someone who could potentially cover both parts).
Barberfellas have been singing together since 2010 and we perform regularly in London and abroad (approx 7-9 gigs per year). We sing a mix of traditional barbershop, pop and modern classical music. We are constantly striving for a high standard of musicianship and we also have a lot of fun!
Whether you’re new to barbershop or have sung it for years, if you love tight harmonies and want to be part of a supportive singing community, we’d love to hear from you.
What we’re looking for
- Everyone is welcome (although we are a predominantly lower voice group, we welcome anyone who can sing and blend well in the ranges below).
- Specifically, we are looking for a tenor or lead voice with barbershop interest or experience:
- Tenor range: approximately G3 to C5/D5
- Lead range: approximately C3 to B4
n.b. falsetto and/or an alto range is fine
- Reasonable sheet music reading skills are a plus
- Comfortable performing music from memory, occasionally with some simple moves
- Commitment to weekly Tuesday rehearsals 7-9pm near Chancery Lane / Farringdon
- Enthusiasm for barbershop harmony and group singing
- Willingness to travel for occasional overseas and UK trips
The process
We’d love to hear you! We’ll be inviting people along for an informal audition across a few weeks of normal rehearsals during April 2026 so you can try us out, and vice versa. If after the audition you decide to take the offer of a place, there’ll be a few weeks to try out to make sure it’s a good fit on both sides before committing further. There are no fees to be part of the group. Interested? Get in touch with Simon, our Musical Director at simon@barberfellas.com and include a bit of information about yourself! We’ll get back to you.
Deadline is 13 March 2026.
